ABOUT THE TEAM
James Olson was born and raised in Montana, where his passion for hunting and fishing took root at an early age. Some of his fondest memories are of summers spent in the mountains of Montana and Wyoming, sharing outdoor adventures with his family.
James moved to Bozeman to attend Montana State University, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. His love for wildlife and the outdoors led him to the Pro Mount School of Taxidermy, where he refined his craft. In the summer of 2022, he turned his passion into a profession by launching Dead On Taxidermy.
James’ dedication to precision and artistry is evident in every piece he creates. He believes that every animal is unique and is committed to preserving its natural beauty through the art of taxidermy.
Laurynn Olson brings over a decade of experience in marketing, administration, and event planning to Dead On Taxidermy. She played a key role in launching the business and continues to drive its growth through strategic marketing and operations.
Previously, Laurynn worked at Montana State University’s Office of Student Engagement, where she specialized in brand identity, multi-channel marketing strategy, and website design.
At Dead On Taxidermy, she manages marketing, website development, QuickBooks, and administrative operations, ensuring the business runs efficiently while reaching a wider audience.
In addition to her work at Dead On Taxidermy, she works part-time for Roots Family Collaborative.
Ginger Heath joined Dead On Taxidermy as a Taxidermy Assistant in the spring of 2025. They will be graduating in August of 2026 with a Bachelor’s degree in Paleontology from Montana State
University. Despite a childhood spent deep in the suburbs of Vancouver, Washington, where
wildlife is most likely to be found on the pages of children’s books, Ginger has had a lifelong
curiosity about the natural world. During their university studies, volunteer work in the
Collections Department at the Museum of the Rockies led them to the world of professional
taxidermy.
Equipped with enthusiasm, tenacity, and an eye for detail, Ginger engages in this work with
respect for the animal. They feel privileged to be able to admire life up-close every day, from the
birefringent muscle fibers in a duck to the sagittal crest of a bear.
Jacob Krause
Jacob was born in Wisconsin where he spent his early years in the woods or on the water . When he was 12 his father took him on an antelope hunt on the eastern side of Montana and he fell in love. He attended MSU and graduated with finance and accounting degrees. He then knew Montana would be the perfect home.
In 2022 he moved back to Bozeman with his wonderful wife Bailey. They now live in Three Forks and love to hunt waterfowl. His love for the outdoors and appreciation of wildlife put taxidermy into his plans. He is excited to be able to preserve memories and create unique pieces for others.
