Location: Dead On Taxidermy 108 Maple St. Unit A Bozeman, MT 59718
Job Type: Part time 25 hours per week (option for more hours during busy seasons)
Reports To: Lead Taxidermist, Owner

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Taxidermy Assistant to gain hands-on experience in the art of taxidermy. This position is designed for individuals interested in learning the fundamentals of specimen preservation, mounting, and restoration under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in skinning, fleshing, tanning, and preserving animal specimens.

• Learn and apply basic taxidermy techniques, including mounting, sculpting, and habitat creation.

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are properly handled.

• Observe and support senior taxidermists in preparing client projects.

• Follow safety and ethical guidelines when handling biological materials and chemicals.

• Conduct research on anatomy, wildlife, and taxidermy methods to enhance learning.

• Assist in customer interactions, order documentation, and workshop operations if required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Interest in taxidermy, wildlife, biology, or related fields.

• Willingness to work with animal specimens and learn new techniques.

• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.

• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.

• Basic artistic or sculpting skills (preferred but not required).

• No prior taxidermy experience required—training will be provided.

Work Environment:

• Hands-on workshop setting with exposure to biological materials and chemicals.

• Requires standing for extended periods and some physical labor.

• Exposure to strong odors and organic materials.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $18/hr paid monthly on the 15th of the month
